Stressed? Weary? Relax and Reenergize through craft. In this 3 part series Jessica Porterfield will share basic techniques that you'll use to create collages. This is low-risk/high-return art!
This program is suitable for people 12 and older.
June 1st: Learn the basics
At the start of this session you'll choose a discarded book that will serve as the substrate for your journal. Jessica will share information about paper grain, types of glue, the rule of thirds, and tearing vs. cutting. Then you'll get to collaging, completeing your own small piece to start your journal. Participants will be encouraged to continue creating new collages between sessions.
July 20th 27th at 11:00 am: Collage paper
in this session you'll learn about sources of collage paper and how to make your own low-tech papers from surprising materials. You'll never look at your garbage the same way! Participants will create another small collage during this session.
August 24th at 1:00 pm: Gelli printing demonstration
Jessica will demonstrate a monoprint technique called gelli-printing and participants will create a final collage.
