Jackie Farbeann, Textile Conservator with OSU, will demonstrate "invisible" and visible mends on different types of clothing using hand stitching. After the demo, it's your turn to try them out!
The current trend of fast, disposable fashion uses a lot of resources and is very damaging to the environment. Repair and reuse of clothing is much more sustainable, but it takes some basic skills most of us never learned. Enter Jackie Farbeann! Our instructor has a background in theatrical costuming, is a certified Textile Conservator, and has worked with the OSU Historic Costume and Textile Collection since 2008, repairing and restoring garments. She'll get you started on the road to being a mender!
