The style of art we call “POP” (short for “Popular”) was a reaction against the non-objective painting of the 1960's. We will discuss the artists and mediums of this style.
Artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg (his “Free Stamp” resides in Cleveland on “Mall C”), and George Segal chose items from consumer culture such as comic books, grocery store merchandise, celebrity photographs, and current events as the new realism of our modern commercial society.
Sean Crum has been a professional artist, printmaker, art historian and musician for over 40 years. He was awarded a Master of Art degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1977. Sean has received over 40 art and educational awards, been featured in 12 one-man shows and has been accepted into over 60 juried shows. Sean conducts museum tours at the Cleveland Museum of Art & the Allen Museum of Art in Oberlin, Ohio and has done numerous workshops, demonstrations and art-history presentations for various local organizations.
