Ohio EMA: Know Us Before You Need Us
This session offers a look at the role of the Ohio Emergency Management Agency on blue sky and gray sky days. Attendees will learn about the state of Ohio’s Emergency Operations Center / Joint Information Center, and how Ohio EMA branches use the four phases of emergency management to make a safer Ohio.
Speaker Bio:
Chris Williams is the Central Region Operations Supervisor for the Ohio Emergency Management Agency where he coordinates with county partners in a collaborative effort to provide support and resources for disasters. Prior to Ohio EMA, he was the Operations/Resource Manager for the Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security in Ohio where he coordinated trainings and activities as the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program Manager. He served six years as a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Reservist working through national disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the 2008 Midwest floods as a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) Manager. Chris earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
