Writing a great artist's statement--one that truly speaks to and for their body of work--can be a source of frustration for artists, writers, designers, performers, and other creatives. In this workshop, participants will undertake a series of exercises designed to help them find the words that work, and they will learn best practices for various styles of statement.

Held offsite at the Amelito Mirolo Barn
4395 Carriage Hill Ln
Upper Arlington, OH 43220

About the series

Making the transition from artist to entrepreneur can be as challenging as it is exciting: if you're thinking of turning your passion into a business, you probably have questions about how to establish an online business and earn income from your passion.

This series is designed specifically for artists and crafters: get valuable tips and advice from local artists and creators on topics like pricing strategies, writing for social media, product photography and what it takes to exhibit in the annual Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival.

Presented in partnership between Upper Arlington Public Library and UA Parks & Rec.

About the presenter

Dr. Jennifer Schlueter is the Associate Provost and Dean of Academics for Columbus College of Art and Design.  She is responsible for driving the strategic development and transformation of CCAD’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as lifelong learning programs for youth, adult enrichment, and professional development.

Dr. Schleuter’s creative background is in theatre-making.  Her works have been produced in multiple venues including Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus Museum of Art, and more.  For her, the skills that she honed as a performance maker – in collaboration and storytelling, for example, as well as a commitment to wonder, delight, and joy – ground her approach as an academic leader.  She was named an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award winner in 2019, and is a Founding Member of the World Experience Organization.
