If you love an unconventional materials challenge, if foraging is your thing, if leaving secret messages for strangers sounds delightful, this program is for you! We're making zines from found stuff!
What is a zine? It's a do-it-yourself magazine, usually written about personal, niche or unusual subjects, reproduced on a copymachine and traded, given away, or sold at conventions, indie shops and other out-of-the-way places. Zines are normally made of paper, but in this program, you'll be challenged to make one out of materials found outdoors.
We'll be spending the first hour of the program foraging in the park for natural materials, debris, and any items that have been left behind and forgotten. The second hour will be spent writing and assembling a zine. Participants will be encouraged to leave their zine somewhere in the park or another location for a stranger to find (although you don't have to!). You are welcome to forage ahead of time and bring what you've gathered. In case of rain, the library will provide materials.
