Chad Gibson from the UA Community Development Department will join us to discuss how he and his department work to enhance the aesthetic appearance and economic vitality of UA.
The Community Development Department is comprised of three divisions: Building, Planning, and Property Maintenance. Learn how these divisions work to make sure homes and businesses are in compliance with state and city codes.
For more than 20 years, Chad Gibson has helped guide progress in the City of Upper Arlington as the Community Development Director. During this time, UA has seen over two billion dollars ($2B) of reinvestment, including the transformations of the Kingsdale Shopping Center as well as the Lane Avenue mixed-use corridor. Several key planning efforts have been undertaken that have shaped City in positive ways, including the River Ridge/Kingsdale West Study, the Lane Avenue Corridor Study, and the ongoing Envision Henderson Study. Chad is also an Associated Faculty Member in the City & Regional Planning Department at the Ohio State University where he has taught 26 student-favorite studio courses over the years, including in 2016 when his students won state and national awards from the American Planning Association.
