Speaker Bio:
James Russell is the economic development analyst for the City of Upper Arlington. In that capacity, he is responsible for supporting current businesses and attracting new businesses to the community. Additionally, James is responsible for data analytics and data visualization for the City. James sits on the AI steering committee for the City of Upper Arlington and the AI steering group for the Ohio Economic Development Association. In these groups, James works to make policies to guide the implementation of AI at the City and more broadly in the economic development profession. Prior to joining the City of Upper Arlington, all of James' career was in private sector consulting, focused on major league sports, transit, economics, and real estate. James is a proud University of Kentucky graduate with a B.S. in economics. James was a UAHS graduate, where he played ice hockey. Outside of work, James sits on three non-profit boards, including co-founding one of them. He is also a member of OEDA, IEDC, and ULI. You can typically find James playing pickup basketball at the Bob Crane Community Center.
