Speaker Bio:
Thalia Amador is an Economic Development Specialist for the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in the Columbus District office. In this role, she works with local resource partners and small businesses of diverse backgrounds to create awareness of tools and resources available that foster the growth and success of Small Businesses. She also has built strategic partnerships that provide cohesive and collaborative outreach efforts to underserved markets. Thalia is also the owner of a Real Estate Leasing and Management company. Thalia Amador was the former Latino Business Adviser for the Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Columbus State Community College. In this role, she provided coaching and advising to new and existing business owners to ensure the healthy growth and success of their business, coordinated trainings in Spanish for the Latino Center and provided business valuation assistance. She has over ten years of customer service experience with a specialty in Risk Management and Insurance for individuals and Small Businesses, holds a Property and Casualty Insurance license for the state of Ohio since 2005, is OSHA 10 Certified, Growthwheel Advisor Certified and an Accredited Business Planning Advisor (ABPA). Thalia has a Bachelor’s in World Economy and Business from The Ohio State University. Thalia has participated in the City of Columbus Advisory Committee for Small Business, in the Franklin County Local Food Action Plan C-9 Program as well as the Franklin County Construction Inclusion Team for the Franklin County Correction Center. She was the Vice-president of LEON, a non-profit organization that advocates for issues that involve the Latino/Hispanic community in Columbus. Thalia was Project Manager for the Latina Mentoring Academy for 3 years, a program that empowers Latina women to advance personally and professionally through mentoring and training workshops.
