Learn how history was changed by a group of mothers who refused to send their children to a dilapidated school.
The first northern challenge of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision happened in the rural town of Hillsboro, Ohio. A small group of African American mothers refused to send their children to the dilapidated Lincoln School and “marched” with their children to the white Webster School every day for two years. This story will be told by the people who lived this inspirational fight in the 17-minute documentary short, “The Lincoln School Story.” Led by Kati Burwinkel, this presentation will include discussion with one of the Lincoln Marchers who will talk about the fight in 1954 and where we are 64 years later.
