Please join us for a discussion of the film within a broad conversation about Munch’s work.
Mention Munch’s Scream and one can immediately conjure the image of an ominous landscape with a swirling sky and a foreground figure with wide vacant eyes and elongated torso. This iconic painting is actually part of Munch’s Frieze of Life. Seen in its context amid the entire frieze in this film, we are invited to view Munch 150, a comprehensive exhibition marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch’s (1863–1944). This film walks us through the exhibit, highlighting Munch’s prolific oeuvre, organized around major themes of relationships, life, death and dread.
Please watch the documentary before the discussion.
