Writing is both an art and a craft. The Building Blocks of Writing fiction will provide an overview of the key structural craft elements that go into writing fiction, particularly the novel.
The class will cover: narration vs exposition; plot: setting/time/place; character; dialogue; voice/point of view/tense; theme vs motif. These critically important aspects of the craft of fiction writing are designed to guide you in your writing and make you more aware in your reading. If time permits, a short, in-class writing exercise will be included.
